New designers: Anne Symonds and Sarah Burton

We've got two new designers in the shop.  Our shop window is currently adorned with Anne Symond's distinctive jewellery (above).  She creates jewellery and accessories ranging from needle- felted jackets, bags and scarves to necklaces using PVC, leather and semi-precious stones.

And Nottingham based Sarah Burton has gifted us with a selection of her pottery inspired by rock pools and organic forms.  Her earthenware and stoneware ceramics are textured with objects including seaweed and banacle shapes.  Her most recent collection features textures from Nottingham Lace (bottom).

To compliment Wollaton's awe-inspiring collection of taxidermy, Debbie Bryan Heritage has it's very own cabinet of curiosities on display and for sale at Wollaton Hall, NG8 2AE.  This includes exclusive collections directly inspired by the historic location.

On September 8th and 9th, see and hear the inspiration behind these collections with talks taking place as part of Heritage Open Days.  These starts at 2pm in the Yard Gallery, with illustrator Laurie Woodruff on Saturday, and designer Debbie Bryan on Sunday.

Also taking place to coincide with Nottingham's Lace:here:now season is an exhibition of draft lace pattern drawings and lace blueprints.  The Draft Room Exhibition in The Yard Gallery will take place from 12-4pm from Saturday 8th September through to Sunday 30th September on weekends only, as part of the Debbie Bryan Nottinghamshire Craft Trail.

Glass & Lamp Making Workshops

In addition to our special Speed Craft event, we've organised two more creative workshops....

On Saturday 6th October we are holding a Lamp Making Workshop for £30. Spend a morning (10am-1pm) or afternoon (2-5pm) with quirky interior product designer Lucy Renshaw. Create your own lamp shade and have fun mixing old things with contemporary colour and design. Recycling at its best!

Lucy will also be at our Pop-Up Tearoom for Light Night on Friday 15th February 2013 from 6-10pm.  Pop in to enjoy our beautiful surroundings, lace tablecloths, china tea cups and of course our delicious brownies and sweet treats courtesy of our resident Tea Lady Jo, all made using local ingredients...  Eco-designer Lucy will be our special guest from 5-7pm introducing a new lace collection and sharing how she makes her signature lamp shades. She will also be on hand to sign her fantastic textile handbook - Mixed Media and Found Textiles.

Also in 2013, we've got a Glass Workshop with Stevie Davis on Saturday 19th January, where you could create your very own pendant, tile or glass hanging. It costs £18 per workshop. Choose from 10-11.30am, 12.30-2pm or 3-4.30pm.  All materials and scrummy refreshments are included.

New ceramic goodies... And a Tea Party!

We have a beautiful new collection from Clare Gage.  Her work 'is an intimate fusion of handcrafted textiles and delicate ceramics. Each piece is carefully formed from hand woven fabrics, transformed into individual moulds and created in porcelain.'. She describes it as 'modern day treasure, eclectic, individual yet completely functional'... and we love it!

*And due soon!*  We will shortly be gifted with a selection of atmospheric memory-evoking tiles by Kit Anderson from Foto Ceramica...

She is also working on an exclusive collection in time for the Lace season in September 2012.  This work will be the main attraction at our special Tea Party on Saturday 8th September for Heritage Open Days.  Pop in between 10am & 4pm to enjoy our beautiful surroundings, lace tablecloths, china tea cups and of course delicious brownies and sweet treats made by our resident Tea Lady Jo, using local ingredients.  Kit will be our guest designer from 10am until 12.30pm sharing her photographic inspirations.

Debbie Bryan Nottinghamshire Craft Trail

Brand new news! Debbie Bryan Studio & Shop has been invited to be part of a lace season called Lace:here:now happening in Nottingham later this year.

The season will begin with Heritage Open Days from 6-9th September and finish around Light Night on Friday 15th February and the Festival of Words fortnight which finishes on 24th February 2013 (!)
It offers an exciting and innovative range of events, exhibitions, workshops , screenings and talks all around the subject of Lace.  Other listed venues include Nottingham Castle, Bonnington Gallery at Nottingham Trent University, Warner Gallery at Lakeside, Nottingham Contemporary, Broadway Cinema... and us! So we are in excellent company and very excited!
Our collection of events is entitled 'Debbie Bryan Nottinghamshire Craft Trail' and features contemporary craft, traditional design, interactive heritage open days, 'pop-up' tea parties and much more across several locations including our Lace Market Studio & Shop, Nottingham Castle, Wollaton Hall & Deer Park, Newstead Abbey, Framework Knitters Museum in Ruddington and Galleries of Justice for our 1st speed crafting event!
The 'golden thread' for our trail is lace, related social history and manufacture... with special collections inspired by lace and vintage drawings created by the makers of the lace supplied to Hampton Court for Catherine Middleton's wedding dress lace appliqué and the company that manufactured the lace embroidery for Lady Diana's wedding dress.
