News from the shop...

It's a hive of activity at the shop with new collections from J.C.Middlebrook including lace inspired textile necklaces, brooches and bracelets (available in all the delicious colours below).

Craig Fellows has also delivered more of his immaculately designed scarves, clutch bags and super cute mini purses (below)... All for the launch of a new silk exhibition...

We've got new work due from Emma Britton, who is busy creating some lace inspired coasters to accompany her stunning tables (designed in conjunction with Jack Mathieson).
The beauties below currently reside in the shop and inspire us all on a daily basis with their visible joint construction reflecting the intricate creation of lace...

And it doesn't stop there, with a new Debbie Bryan collection of lace knit cotton shawls (ideal for spring!) and captured lace brooches, eye-catching-ly finished with gold leaf.

Due to popular demand...

Alys Power will be returning to the shop on Saturday 11th August for two more workshops...

Quirky Character Brooch Workshop - £25
From 11am-1pm create your own little friend from reclaimed materials.  Jeweller Alys will show you how to cut, stamp, stitch & sew, adding features and details to give your character brooch its own special personality.

Stamped Pendant Necklace Workshop - £35
From 2-5pm, join Alys to create a unique and personal necklace to be cherished.  She will share her metal working techniques and lovely nostalgic materials and you will learn techniques including metal stamping, finishing, wire work and beading as well as how to transform your junk into jewels... All before returning home with a wonderful and wearable work of art.

All materials are provided for both these workshops, but in the spirit of recycling you are welcome to bring along your own forgotten jewellery, buttons, tiny objects, trinkets, beads or textiles to really make your creation your own.  You may also want to think about any special words or phrases to include in your design.

To book, pop into the shop, or give us a ring on 0115 950 7776.

More workshops confirmed!

Following on from our last post... Our selection of workshops has grown!
Alys Power's Bracelet Making Workshop (as mentioned in the post below) will be taking place on Saturday 26th May from 11-1pm for £25.  Combining metal stamping and riveting, you will make a simple but striking layered brass and aluminium design. You will then mount your stamped metal plate onto a vintage expandable watch strap to create your very own piece of handmade jewellery.  We'd encourage you to think about words and phrases you might want to use in advance and you are welcome to bring along any beads, buttons or trinkets to embellish your bracelet....  Although all materials are provided.

Then on Saturday 16th June, Kumi Middleton will be leading two origami workshops.  Join her session from 11am-1pm for £18 to learn this intricate yet beautiful skill.  All you need is nimble findgers and you will go home with your very own beautiful paper globe.

Or perhaps you'd prefer her Kimono Girl Shiori Bookmark Workshop from 2-4pm for £18 where you will use various Japanese papers to create a practical yet beautiful work of art in itself!
