Autumn Events and Design Workshops




Thursday 8th September to Sunday 11th September, FREE
An essential weekend for lovers of heritage and original design! As part of Heritage Open Days 2011, our lovely shop will be presenting detailed draughtsman’s drawings from Nottingham's Lace Industry and traditional Lace made in the city alongside exquisite contemporary craft collections.
Special lace inspired collections will be launched during the weekend at the shop including truly original work from Debbie Bryan, Hannah Lobely - Paperwork, J.C Middlebrook, Katie Almond, Corrina Rothwell, Julia Church, Jason Holroyd, Kate Mcbride, Laurie Woodruff, Clare Hillerby and Emma Britton.
On Saturday & Sunday come and enjoy our Pop-up Lace Market Tea Room. Lace table cloths, china tea cups and cosy atmosphere in the beautiful surroundings of Debbie's shop, with hot cuppa's, home baked cakes and biscuits made with the very best local ingredients served from from 11am.
Free talks on the heritage of the area and how it is being kept alive will take place during the afternoon.

SPECIAL GUEST WORKSHOP - Stitch Virgin’s with Spinster’s Emporium
Beginner’s sewing workshop. Learn to thread a needle, sew a button, darn a sock, try out anchor and running stitches and have a go on our sewing machines. Fashion Customising, make, mend and up-cycle workshop! Bring along your old t-shirts, dresses and jackets and learn a variety of quick and easy techniques to transform your wardrobe. Tea Party with The WI. GO PINK! As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, pop into our shop to learn traditional crafts from the talented WI ladies... with tea and plenty of cake! Creative Twinning Events - October 2011

Following on from the success of a collaborative showcase in Karlsruhe, Germany in June, Debbie is taking part in a series of events back on home ground to recognise the shared creativity of both Nottingham and Karlsruhe.

12th - 28th October - Lace Market Gallery, Stoney Street, Nottingham

Creative Twinning Exhibition; a collection of Eco-Creative work by J.C Middlebrook, Paperwork by Hannah Lobley, Debbie Bryan Collections and 3 designers from Nottingham's twinned city of Karlsruhe, Germany. Private view Wednesday 12th October from 6-8pm


12th October 2-4pm - Paul Smith Screen Room, Broadway Cinema - FREE EVENT

Creative Forum - This is a unique opportunity to find out about the Creative Twinning concept and meet the designers involved from Nottingham and Karlsruhe. During question time, ask the designers anything! It's a great opportunity to find out about exhibiting abroad or maybe what it is like to run a business? The questions are yours to ask. Booking is essential and mandatory.
