Designer Spotlight - Debbie Bryan

This is the first in a series of posts to introduce you to the Designers in Debbie Bryan's Shop, and such a series couldn't really start with anyone but Debbie herself, could it?

Debbie is inspired for her knitted adornments both by her Morecambe Bay childhood and by the city she now lives and works in- Nottingham. Debbie also creates hand cast collectibles, such as her brooches and cuff-links, inserting found treasures and historical items so each piece is totally unique.

Hand Cast Collectibles

Knitted Adornments

Debbie supports local talent in both suppliers and in the designers she stocks in the Shop. In fact, she is also about to launch a new sustainable range of hand knitted gloves with wool sourced from a local sheep breeder and spinner. The range will launch on 1st October as part of the Creative October month, supported by Nottingham City Council. Read more about Creative October on our blog here.

As a designer in her own right, Debbie attends lots of events across the country so if you would like to meet Debbie and aren't able to make it into the Shop, check out the Debbie Bryan Events page right here on our blog. Debbie's full range is also available to view online: www.debbiebryan.co.uk

Throughout the morning you will create your own printing plates using carborundum grit to give random or painterly areas, scratching and ripping the surface to give depth and tone and fine drypoint lines to give detail if you wish. In the afternoon you will print the plates using colourful water based inks. Collaged papers can be incorporated at this stage adding extra texture and interest to your print.
